Students from SYNA International School

In 2015, we made formal links with schools in both China and India.

Westfield Academy is now 'twinned' with the India SYNA International School in Katni, Madhya Pradesh and the Sichuan Bright Foreign Language School in Lesham in the province of Chengdu, China.

In today's global economy, with improved communication and transport links, there are many opportunties for our students to interact with people from other countries. At Westfield, we recognise the significance and benefits of teaming with a school from another country and forming strong international links. From learning about languages and food to understanding about history, geography and politics in context, to meeting students from the partner schools in person – the benefits of international links are proven.

These new partnerships will provide fantastic opportunities for the students and staff to learn more about the culture in these countries and provide unique educational benefits for the school.Students will also be able to take part in regular visits abroad to the partner schools.  The inaugural trip to India took place in October 2014.

Read more about the Indian visit here and see some fantastic photos of the trip!

The first visit to China took place over Easter 2015. We plan to continue these trips each year, alternating between the two partner schools.

Morrisons FR

Students raised more than £500 to help fund their trip

Fundraising has begun in earnest to raise money to finance the trips. Recently, two successful outings to Morrisons resulted in excellent fundraising for the International Links Groups.  The hard work, dedication and motivation of our students netted more than £500! We are extremely grateful to Morrisons and their customers for the support.

The students were also complemented on their exemplary manners. Morrisons have already agreed that the students can return again to try and push their total still higher.  A huge “Well Done” to all those concerned. The students still need to raise more money to reach their target—if you would like to support this exciting project, please contact  the school on 01935 423 747. Thank you.
